Background

The Healthcare Fraud Prevention Partnership (HFPP) was officially established through the signing of the HFPP charter by the HHS Secretary and US Attorney General in September 2012. The purpose of the HFPP is to foster a proactive approach to detect and prevent healthcare fraud through the voluntary sharing of data and information between the public and private sectors.

The HFPP was established on the premise that public-private partnerships, where data and information sharing are central pillars, yield significant value. Public and private sector organizations have long recognized the importance of coordination and information-sharing to combat healthcare fraud.

The HFPP builds on these efforts by offering a forum that facilitates sharing identifiable federal, state, and public sector data and best practices with partners from across the healthcare landscape.
